Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has announced that he is withdrawing his joint custody case for his first child, Imade, following a tense courtroom incident involving his ex-partner, Sophia Momodu’s lawyer.
The singer and Sophia Momodu appeared in court on February 13 for a hearing on the lawsuit Davido filed, seeking joint custody of their daughter, Imade.

According to reports, proceedings were progressing smoothly until Sophia Momodu’s lawyer allegedly made a remark questioning Davido’s ability to guarantee Imade’s safety. The lawyer reportedly referenced the tragic passing of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi, in October 2022.
The comment is said to have deeply upset the singer, who reportedly lost his composure and confronted the lawyer inside the courtroom. The heated exchange temporarily disrupted the session.

In his post, the award-winning artist stated that no one emerged victorious from the situation, emphasizing that the only real loser in the dispute was his daughter, Imade.
He noted that he has now dropped the case but maintained that his daughter would one day understand that he fought for her.
