Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has hit back at a social media user who declared that his political career is over, vowing to speak out at the “right time” and prove his critics wrong.
GistTide reports that El-Rufai, a prominent figure in the newly formed opposition coalition aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, issued the fiery response on Thursday after a user on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) mocked his political relevance.
The critic, identified as Eureka (@Archimeokey), wrote:
“El-Rufai is gone.
He is finished politically.
He now hides behind other people’s ink to write and their mouth to talk.
The big mouthed El-Rufai can’t talk anymore.”
In a swift and pointed reply, El-Rufai dismissed the claims, urging the critic to “save this tweet” and revisit the conversation after the 2027 polls.
“In your dreams… when the time comes for me to speak, you will eat your words… save this tweet, and check on 1st March, 2027 in sha Allah,” he wrote.
El-Rufai on 2027 Politics and APC’s Future
In a separate development, El-Rufai declared that it is his duty as a senior Nigerian citizen not only to speak out when a government fails its people but also to take concrete action to reverse the situation.
Speaking in Sokoto State during a mobilisation drive for the opposition coalition, El-Rufai urged Nigerians to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, warning that the ruling party’s continued dominance could threaten the nation’s unity.
“The APC has become incompetent and clannish. Keeping them in power beyond 2027 will endanger our national cohesion,” El-Rufai told the youths gathered for the event.
As a key member of the coalition, the outspoken former governor has been actively rallying support to challenge the ruling party, framing the 2027 elections as a critical moment for Nigeria’s future.
