Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has once again etched her name in history as Guinness World Records (GWR) officially recognises her for preparing the largest pot of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, Guinness World Records confirmed the remarkable feat, writing:
“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
The record-breaking achievement took place on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, during the grand Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci. The highly publicised event drew thousands of attendees, trended across social media platforms, and celebrated the global appeal of Nigerian cuisine.
Hilda Baci first rose to international prominence in 2023 when she made headlines worldwide by setting the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. With this new recognition, she has further solidified her status as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated culinary figures and an ambassador of African gastronomy.
The Lagos festival attracted top Nigerian celebrities and dignitaries, including actress Funke Akindele, media personality Enioluwa Adeoluwa, lifestyle influencer Tomike Adeoye, and Pastor Idowu. Also in attendance was Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, who joined others in celebrating Hilda’s outstanding culinary milestone.
Hilda’s latest Guinness World Record not only highlights her talent and resilience but also shines a spotlight on Nigeria’s jollof rice culture, reinforcing its place as one of Africa’s most iconic dishes.
