A virtual assistant has shared a disturbing experience after applying for a job she found on TikTok, only to discover it involved explicit adult chat sessions instead of the professional role she expected.
According to her account, she had been searching for work online when she came across what looked like a legitimate opportunity on TikTok. After applying and passing the interview screening, she was invited to start her first day—only for the shocking reality of the job to unfold.
She recounted her story on Facebook, writing:
“I have been job hunting and I saw posts on TikTok where they said we would chat with people and get paid. I decided to give it a try and apply. The lady went through my profile and confirmed that my content was good and that I could do the job.”
Excited, she set up her workspace and joined the interview via video call. However, things quickly took a disturbing turn.
“On the day of the interview, as a desperate job seeker, I set up my workspace and was happily waiting. The interviewer (a man) and the lady who contacted me joined the call. The interviewer: ‘Angie, why are you dressed?’ Me: ‘How Sir?’ (I was so confused at this point). The Lady: ‘You should know this thing already. Remove your top so we can start the interview.’”
Stunned, she pushed back, asking why undressing was necessary for a supposed chat-based role.
“Me: I thought it was a chat task, why do I need to undress? Interviewer: ‘I don’t think you are ready to work. You’re wasting my time.’”
The woman revealed that the experience left her shocked and unsettled, warning others to be cautious of fake job offers circulating on TikTok and other platforms. She emphasized the importance of carefully verifying job details before committing to avoid falling into exploitative traps.
This case highlights the growing concern over misleading online job advertisements, particularly on social media platforms, where scammers prey on desperate job seekers with offers that turn out to be exploitative or unsafe.
