Popular Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has stirred intense social media conversation after making explosive allegations against fellow actor Jim Iyke, claiming that the veteran star once attempted to take his life. The shocking revelation came alongside a surprising public apology from Okeke, who opened up about one of the darkest moments in his career.
The former Tinsel star shared the emotional account in a deeply personal Instagram post, admitting he once reached a point where he felt he would not survive another day.
“I want to apologise to anybody who cares remotely about me or my work… To my friends, fans, and lovers of Gideon, if I still have any left,” he wrote, with a tone that reflected visible distress.
Okeke acknowledged that his recent outbursts were “completely out of character,” especially following renewed public attention after Jim Iyke’s movie Sin was released on Prime Video.
“There was a night I thought I would die. That night had Jim Iyke written all over it,” he alleged. “I was young, brash, and spoke recklessly. But nothing I said warranted that kind of heat.”
Despite issuing the apology, Gideon stood firm on his claims, insisting that the incident was far more serious than many might realise. He alleged that during an on-set altercation on January 18, 2024, Jim Iyke threatened him with a firearm.
“Without being adamant, I respectfully maintain that an obituary wouldn’t have been fair on me either if Jim Iyke had succeeded in using that gun he wanted to use on the 18th of January,” he stated.
Okeke also expressed disappointment at the silence of individuals who were allegedly present during the confrontation.
“Nobody would have been there to defend my cause, because the people who were present till today have feigned ignorance. I’m not calling their names… but I felt, Wow, this is the life,” he lamented.
As of now, Jim Iyke has not issued any public response to the allegations, and the Nollywood industry awaits further developments on the matter.
