Solomon Chukwudi Onah, the individual who rescued an alleged murderer, Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu, from a violent mob in Enugu State, has revealed disturbing details of what transpired once they reached the Nsukka police station.
The Enugu State Police Command had earlier confirmed the arrest of 51-year-old Nwangwu on Monday, December 1, 2025. According to reports, operatives of the Nsukka Urban Division, assisted by the Neighbourhood Watch Group, apprehended him for the gruesome killing of his maternal cousin, 19-year-old Loveth Uloma Nwangwu.
Police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe disclosed that on November 28, 2025, the deceased had lodged a complaint at the Umabor Division accusing the suspect of defilement, sexual abuse, abduction, and threats to her life. She claimed she had lived with the suspect since 2019—when she was just 13—following the death of his wife. During this period, he allegedly restricted her communication with loved ones and subjected her to continuous sexual exploitation.
The situation escalated when the suspect, a member of the Neighbourhood Security Watch Group, stormed a pharmacy where Loveth was receiving treatment. He reportedly forced his way in, assaulted her, and repeatedly slammed her head on the floor, resulting in her death.
Onah, who stepped in to prevent the mob from killing the suspect, said he personally transported Nwangwu to the Nsukka police station. However, what happened next left him in shock.
According to Onah, the suspect openly admitted to the killing as soon as they arrived.
“When I approached the mob, I never knew the gravity of the matter was that high. Jungle justice was never my thing. But I regret intervening on this one. It’s a shameful scenario involving two officers of the law; a DPO and a CSO,” he wrote.
He added that the suspect boldly made a call—right in the presence of senior police officers—confessing to the murder.
“When I realized the heaviness of the incident, Emma was already with the Area Commander. Right in front of the Area Commander, the Nsukka Urban DPO, the Eha-Alumona DPO, some police officers, and many of us who helped to bring him to the Area Command, the idiot had the audacity to call someone (allegedly to be the Nsukka LG Chairman) shouting ‘Mayor!, I’ve seen the girl, I’ve k!lied her’,” he wrote.
Onah said he now regrets stepping in to protect the suspect from the mob, given the severity of the crime and the suspect’s brazen confession.
