In a candid new podcast episode, former U.S. President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama have finally responded to persistent divorce rumors that have trailed them over the past year.
The Obamas appeared together on an episode of “IMO,” hosted by Michelle’s brother, Craig Robinson, and addressed the growing speculation with a mix of humor and heartfelt clarity.
Robinson opened the conversation with a light remark, saying, “It’s nice to have you both in the same room.” Michelle quickly seized the moment to respond:
“I know, because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced,” she quipped.
Barack Obama, ever composed, admitted that he often doesn’t even hear about such rumors until much later.
“These are the kinds of things that I just miss. So, I don’t even know this stuff’s going on. And then somebody will mention it to me, and I’m all like, ‘What are you talking about?’” he said, laughing off the gossip.
Michelle then took a more serious tone as she reaffirmed her commitment to her husband of over 30 years.
“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I’ve thought about quitting on my man,” she said. “We’ve had some really hard times and we’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
This is not the first time Michelle Obama has addressed rumors about their relationship. Last month, during an interview on NPR’s “Wild Card,” she explained how the lack of public visibility with her husband often triggers false assumptions:
“The fact that people don’t see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage,” she noted.
“Even in this phase in our lives, when Barack and I say something, right or wrong, it does get covered.”
Married since 1992, the Obamas are one of America’s most iconic couples, and they continue to inspire fans worldwide. They have two daughters, Malia and Sasha, and remain deeply involved in public service and media projects.
Their joint appearance on the podcast sends a clear message: the Obamas are united and going strong.
