Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has firmly denied rumours suggesting that he is making efforts to reconcile with his estranged wife, Mabel Makun.
In a statement posted on his official Instagram page, AY described the circulating claims as “false, incessant, and insensitive”. He stressed that the stories were deliberately fabricated to mislead the public and generate traffic for gossip blogs.
“I have never made or authorised any statement regarding reconciliation. If I have anything personal to communicate, I have the platform, the reach, and the credibility to do so directly — not through faceless blogs and rumour-driven platforms,” AY stated.
The comedian issued what he called a final warning to those spreading falsehoods about his private life. He cautioned that legal action would be taken against individuals or media platforms that continue to publish or promote defamatory content about him.
“Enough of the lies,” AY declared, emphasising that he would no longer tolerate fabricated stories about his marriage and personal life.
It will be recalled that in 2023, AY confirmed the end of his nearly 20-year marriage to Mabel Makun. At the time, he expressed deep regret over losing his home and admitted to engaging in behaviours that compromised the marriage.
With his latest statement, the award-winning entertainer has made it clear that reconciliation stories should be disregarded, while also warning media outlets to respect his privacy and stop circulating unverified claims.
