Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have successfully dismantled a notorious car theft syndicate terrorizing Abuja residents. The suspects, arrested by officers of the elite Scorpion Squad, were found in possession of stolen vehicles, ammunition, and sophisticated car-jamming devices.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrests in a statement, noting that the operation was carried out between August 19 and 21, 2025, after actionable intelligence was gathered from digital surveillance.
The two suspects, identified as Solomon Fanen Manger and Solomon Yande, both from Benue State, confessed to specializing in the theft of high-value vehicles, including Toyota Prado SUVs and Toyota Hilux trucks. According to police reports, the duo operated primarily in Wuse, Garki, and the Central Area of Abuja.
SP Adeh revealed that within August alone, the suspects stole three Toyota Prado SUVs, two white Toyota Hilux trucks, and a black Toyota Camry. They allegedly sold each vehicle for between ₦7 million and ₦8 million. The suspects further disclosed that their syndicate leader, known only as “Alhaji”, operates from Niger Republic and serves as the receiver of the stolen vehicles.

In a related development, on August 22, 2025, operatives of the Karu Police Division arrested Daniel Oguata from Kogi State, who was caught attempting to steal a Toyota Picnic (RBC 322 JR) at NEPA Quarters, Karu. The vehicle was promptly recovered, and the suspect taken into custody.
“All suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court upon the completion of investigations,” SP Adeh assured.
This major breakthrough highlights the FCT Police Command’s intensified crackdown on organized car theft syndicates and its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the capital city.
