Popular Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has been officially elected as the National Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) following the guild’s national election held in Benin City, Edo State.
The news was confirmed in a statement issued by her media office on Monday, December 8, 2025. The statement highlighted that Amusa’s emergence reflects the strong confidence AGN members have in her extensive experience, commitment, and long-standing contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
Speaking after her victory, Amusa expressed her readiness to introduce innovation and stability to the AGN Secretariat. According to her, “I plan to bring fresh ideas, order, and steady service to the AGN Secretariat as I step into this national position.”
She emphasized that her background in acting and film production would play a major role in advocating for improved opportunities for Nigerian actors across the country. Amusa, who has featured in numerous Nollywood films and produced notable works such as the Yoruba movie Dewunmi Iberu, reaffirmed her dedication to the advancement of the industry. She stated that she hopes to see Nollywood “grow stronger and take its rightful place in national development.”
Beyond her new AGN role, Amusa also serves as the Vice President of the Ijebu Pride Network, a cultural initiative founded by Bashorun Femi Branch. The network brings together notable entertainers from Ijebuland and promotes the rich heritage of Ijebuland and Remoland in Ogun State.
Meanwhile, Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, lost her bid to become the next AGN President. Daniels was one of the well-known contenders in the December 6, 2025 election, which sought a successor for outgoing president Emeka Rollas. Her major rival, the current National Secretary Abubakar Yakubu, eventually won the contest.
